Replacement of Several Teeth
|
A common situation for adults is the "one-sided gap", where from the eye tooth or the fourth or fifth tooth from the middle there are no more teeth towards the back.
These missing teeth, however, must definitely be replaced, partly for aesthetic reasons and partly as a precaution against subsequent TMJ problems.
The classical form of therapy is a removable denture, for which healthy, original teeth must be filed. Not everyone is partial to the idea of wearing removable dentures inefinately.
A far better alternative would be a fixed bridge anchored by implants.
